How often do you give yourself a gift, and when you do, what do you give yourself? If you would like to know the greatest gift you could ever give yourself keep reading. This a gift you will forever be grateful for. It is gift for a life time.
The sweetest gift you could give yourself is the gift of knowing who you are beyond this body, mind, and personality.
You are a truly powerful being. But you cannot be in the driver seat of your life if you don’t even recognize that you are the driver, and that you are holding the steering wheel in your hands.
The two most powerful ways to discover the truly powerful being that you are is through:
- Self- Awareness
- Self-Knowledge
SELF-AWARENESS
The first most powerful way to discover the truly powerful being that you are is through Self-Awareness. And it is to become aware of yourself. The first step in becoming aware of yourself is to become aware of how you feel. This may seem like a piece of cake for most people but if you are like me, and you have suppressed your feelings for most of your life, this requires a little bit of practice.
HOW DO YOU FEEL?
Lets dive into it and investigate how you feel. Are you sitting on a chair right now? How does the chair you are sitting on feel. Can you feel your bootie? Are your feet on the ground? How does the ground beneath your feet feel? Becoming aware of how you are feeling in the moment instantly brings you into the present moment.
SCAN YOUR BODY
Starting at the bottom of your feet, slowly scan through your body – your toes, feet, ankle, calves, knees, thighs, your spine, neck and shoulders, your arms, hands and fingers, become aware of your face, your forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Do you feel any sensations? What about the air around you? Can you feel the air brushing against your skin? Get a feeling of these things.
YOUR MIND
The second step is to know how your mind feels? What kinds of thoughts are you witnessing? What thoughts are screaming for your attention? Are you mostly dwelling in the past, or are you always projecting the future. Are you repeating the same conversations over and over again? Or are you continuously planning for the next moment? Become a witness of your own thoughts.
BE INTERESTED IN YOURSELF
The third step is to have a keen interest in yourself. Be brutally honest with yourself. After you have observed your feelings and your mind, now it is time to take your self-awareness a step further, and take a look at your personality, your behavior, and your vibes. Weigh your pros and cons, your strengths and weaknesses. Observe yourself from all different angles. If you have to, ask your friends and family for constructive feed back. Be open and receptive, and remember this is for your highest good.
Self-Awareness is not something that is done over night. We are evolving beings. We have to make it a life style. It is an investigation that takes for ever. With time it becomes sweeter and sweeter. Journaling can be a powerful practice in discovering the truly powerful being that you are. I suggest you set aside 20 minutes every day to contemplate on yourself.
SELF-KNOWLEDGE
The second most powerful way to discover the truly powerful being that you are is through Self-Knowledge. There is tremendous depth to the truth of who you really are. If you want to truly know yourself, you have got to spend some sincere time with yourself. You must look inside and see beyond your thoughts, feelings, and sensations. This means taking your contemplation to a deeper level. Quietly but attentively observe yourself.
THE POWER OF SILENCE
There is in my opinion no more powerful way to be in touch with the truly powerful being that you are than when you are in silence. We are never closer to our true selves than when we are in silent.
YOGA, MEDITATION & BREATHING TECHNIQUES
Yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques are from my own experience the most powerful practice to have a taste of the truly powerful being that you are.
There are many powerful techniques out there, but unless you put them into practice they will do you no good. If you have never done yoga and meditation before I suggest you start with 15 minutes of yoga followed by 10 minutes of meditation.
Direct experience of your true nature is truly the sweetest gift you can give yourself. Stay tuned for a blog dedicated to yoga and meditation. If you have any tips I would love to hear from you. Namaste.
