Benefits of Journaling
While some people might kick out the idea of the daily grind of jotting down words in a journal, journaling has become a big hype worldwide. I know from experience many journaling benefits, and would like to share my top eight benefits of journaling.
There are many more benefits of journaling. But here are my top 8 benefits of journaling and why I think you should get with the programme:
1.De-clutter your mind.
Journaling helps you to straighten out your thoughts and bring them to the light. You can write up your thoughts and feelings about a specific experience, your reactions to a particular situation, your single-minded opinions, or you can journal about specific events in your life. This process of writing up your thoughts brings tremendous clarity and focus.
2.Revamp your writing.
Journaling helps you to master the art of writing. If you want to improve your writing skills, start journaling. It is the best thing you can do. You don’t need a well-rounded idea to start. All it takes is a pen, a notebook, journal, ipad, or whatever floats your boat and start writing your thoughts. The more you write, the more you will kick ass at writing.
3.It is the way to set and achieve goals.
There is tremendous power in writing down your goals. A diary is a fantastic place to write your goals, ambitions, visions, new-year resolutions, and how you will change the world.
By keeping them in a journal (or in one place), you can always come back to them. This way you can keep track of your progress, motivate the shit out of yourself to keep focusing on your next breakthrough to keep moving forward.
4.Jotting down ideas on-the-go.
The benefits of journaling, especially of keeping a journal, are that you can jot down all of your ideas in one place at any given moment wherever you are. No more, where did I write that down? What was that brilliant idea again?
Whenever you have a light bulb moment, you can jot it down in your journal. And you can always come back to these ideas, later on, to form a conclusion, contemplate and ponder on it.
5.Quick stress relief
Expressing your feelings in a journal helps you to brain-dump your worries, concerns, and frustrations. This is extremely helpful to let go and free yourself from buildup stresses.
I highly recommend morning pages. As soon as you wake up, for one hour, write whatever crosses your mind. It is no rocket science, and there is no wrong or right way of doing it.
I have been doing this for years. It brings immense clarity, helps me prioritize, and plan my day. This is not something to over-think it, just do it.
For one hour, jot down everything that enters your awareness, and the next day do it again, and again, and again. It is the most powerful way to relieve stress and boost your vibe. Expressing yourself in writing is an excellent way to free up any tension that keeps you from living your best life.
6.Hardcore introspection
As Sheryl Sandberg once said, “We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change.”
Journaling is a fantastic way to help you slow down, take a step back, and reflect on yourself. Think about your thoughts and mental processes. It’s a great way to observe your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions without having to judge yourself.
Through self-reflective journaling, you can start to explore your very own nature with sincere interest and curiosity. And as you dig deeper within yourself you will begin to unravel the true essence of your own being. And that my friend is the greatest blessing of all.
7.Improves your memory.
Experts say handwriting improves your memory. Writing things done helps you to remember it better. The brain is more likely to store information that you have written down. Your mind will make stronger connections with the data after you have written them down, making it easier for you to remember it in the future.
8.It loosens your creative genius.
Journaling is a fantastic way to think outside the box and dare to be creative. We all are creative creatures at the core of our being, too sad most of us haven’t realized it yet. Journaling is the most incredible way to explore your inner creativity. Write down anything that comes to your mind and let your imagination run wild.
