10 Reasons why you want to visit India
Right before the COVID-19 Pandemic, I fulfilled a long time wish of visiting India. I have traveled from Antarctica to Asia to French Polynesia, to name a few but never India. It was a dream come true. The experience touched me deeply. I still have a lot to see and would love to return as soon as it is safe to travel again, and here is why.
1 – SPIRITUALITY
India is home to many of the world’s major religions and is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. There are Hindu temples, mosques, and churches everywhere you turn. One can feel a strong sense of spiritual passion and devotion in every corner.
Experiencing the local people performing their ritual offerings and prayers is an experience that is beyond description.
2 – THE LOCALS
The local people in India are some of the most delightful, caring, and humble people I have met in my entire life.
3 – THE FOOD
The dosa (fermented pancake made from rice batter and black lentils), chapatti (flatbread), and basmati rice cooked with various spices and vegetables is enough reason for me to travel to India again. Indians cook their meals with immense love, and you can feel the high vibration of the meal, as if you are eating a home-made dish sprinkled with lots of love.
4 – THE ASHRAMS
Ashrams provide a space for people to connect with their inner being. An Ashram’s positive vibes help you quiet the mind and get in touch with your true self – something we tend to forget when we are busy Facetiming, Facebooking, and Zooming, a.k.a Socialmediaing.
These ashrams in India are famous places visited by people from all walks of life and religions to gain a sense of connection otherwise lost in the material world. If you want to have a life-changing experience, you definitely want to visit one of these Ashrams.
5- THE CHANTING
For the Vedic chanting alone, I would go to India tomorrow. Chanting mantras is an ancient practice that helps to calm the mind. Research has shown that it slows down negative thoughts, stress, and tension. I minimizes anxiety and depression and raises your vibration.
6 – THE RUPEES (CURRENCY OF INDIA)
Compared with other countries globally, India is a lot cheaper and the most inexpensive country to live or retire. You can have a full-blown dinner for just a few rupees, not a bad idea huh?!
7- THE FESTIVALS
Earlier this year, I was lucky to experience one of the largest and most significant among India’s sacred festivals; the Mahashivratri, a celebration to remember and bring our awareness to the core of our existence. Mahashivratri is a celebration that happens every year in February.
There are many different festivals in India throughout the year, and I am sure they are all equally colorful, exuberant, and fun.
8 – THE ARCHITECTURE & ITS HISTORY
From mosques, temples, palaces to worn-out buildings, the architecture of India is extremely diverse. It is deeply rooted in its religion, culture, and history.
9 – THE PERFECT CHAOS
It would not be fair to not mentioning the perfect chaos. The never-ending traffic jams, beep-beeping, loud noises, lovely smells, cheerful colors are what makes India unique. Learning how to quiet the mind, going with the flow, accepting the moment exactly as it is, is waht makes the experience so special.
Being able to remain centered and calm during meditation while people are snoring, burping, and farting makes it worth the trip and so much more fun.
10 – THE MAGIC
I have never experienced such natural flow of events, such perfect timing, Divine interventions, being in JUST the right place at JUST the right time, having THAT conversation, taking THAT turn, and meeting the exact right people as in India. One magic after another. India has taught me that it is ALL GRACE.
